Nóstos is an inspired and adventurous collaboration between pianists and composers Andrea Vanzo and Evgeny Grinko. Nóstos (νόστος) in ancient Greek literature means "homecoming," especially in the epic and profound sense of the term. Nostos opens as an intimate piano piece, gently led by the right hand introducing a simple theme that returns twice to set the mood. The piano then rises into the high register, gaining momentum as soft string pads appear. Calm returns before a lead cello brings dramatic weight, joined by a second cello and faster piano notes, building an intense, cinematic climax.
